LIGHT & AERO COCKPIT

We reached out to up and coming Chinese carbon brand EXS to help us develop an integrated handlebar system. The result was a sleek finished product thats also light and aero.

EXS COLLABORATION

We reached out to up and coming Chinese carbon brand EXS to help us develop an integrated handlebar system and improve the front end aerodynamics of our bike system.

Together with EXS we designed a new top cap and compression ring to allow for integrated cabling system that suits the classic look of the 44mm headtube found on our bikes. The system can be retro-fitted onto existing A30 bikes with a kit from Serk.

EXS have been developing high quality and lightweight handlebars since 2018. The EXS Aerover bar starts from an incredible 290g for the bar/stem combo (90mm/360mm). EXS have spent considerable time refining the stiffness to weight ratio of the setup prioritizing out of the saddle stiffness without compromising on strength. This has been achieved by using a 'monoque plus' production system which reduces the overall number of components which are bonded together. This results in lighter weights without loss of rigidity.

While aerodynamics are not typically the highest priority for titanium bike owners the marginal gains available across modern components and clothing adds up to make a significant difference.  The EXS bar has been tested in the wind tunnel and can save 4w when compared with a traditional aero bar/stem combo (eg Zipp SL70 Aero) at 40kph. This equates to 15 seconds over a 40km time trial.

One of the shortcomings of integrated handlebar systems are the lack of available sizing. EXS have addressed this with over 30 different size available - from 80/360mm all the way to 140/420mm. This gives you lots of flexibility to find the perfect set up for your fit. We stock the standard sizes as listed in the table below. Other sizes are available on request.
