Serk Cycling Beijing
The second of our 'getaway' series of trips in Yunnan. The formula is simple - dial up the fun and dial down the hard core 'frontier' cycling. More chill, less watts and plenty of time to immerse yourself in the local culture. Perfect for partners and those looking for an easier trip to build up to one of our 'frontier' adventures.
This trip we explore a the western frontier of Yunnan on the border with Myanmar. Over 60% of the land area is covered by tropical forests. Expect small flowing roads, warm weather and a great diversity of local culture. The perfect getaway from urban China.
Day 1.
Tengchong
We will directly fly to Tengchong as the starting point of this journey. After hotel check in and unpacking your bike its time to relax! Head to the old town - Hesun for some a wander and gander if you are curious.
Day 2.
Tengchong cycling
This morning we will ride in the Tengchong Volcanic Geothermal National Geological Park where you can see some peculiar landforms up close. After lunch we're off to Heshun, an ancient town with a 600 year history and rich culture. Appreciate the beauty of traditional south-western Chinese architectures and sneak in a few local treats. If time permits we plan to visit some spectacular hot springs for a dip!
Day 3.
Yingjiang
Time for some mountain roads! Yingjiang is a very beautiful tropical town which the Daying River passes through. Dayingjiang river eventually flows into to Myanmar as the Irrawaddy River - mother river of Myanmar. Yingjiang is a heaven for all sort of vegetation and birds due to its varied landscape and elevation change. Combined with the unique local Dai culture this really a special part of China.
Day 4.
Yingjiang chill
Yingjiang was named by the Chinese National Geography magazine as the 'museum of alive bird species’. The region includes hundreds of rare species of birds and today we are going on a bird spotting ride!
Day 5.
Ruili
Today’s destination is the frontier city Ruili on the border with Myanmar. At noon we take a break in Longchuan to try some famous hand-made rice noodle and local BBQ. After lunch traditional ethnic villages and temples feature on the route. Immerse yourself in this subtropical kingdom with rainforest, banyan trees and changing culture. The architecture and culture of the region is a mix of Chinese elements and Burmese features intertwined to create a fascinating visual feast. For centuries people living here have found harmony by exchanging different cultures and customs.

Day 6.
Mangshi
This day we ride up towards north to Mangshi. Some proper climbing to test the legs and lungs on the menu today. Be ready to immerse yourself in the natural and man made attractions: indigenous pagoda, ancient banyans, and Moli rainforest waterfall. We stay over in Mangshi to celebrate this wonderful tour.
Day 7.
Mangshi
We'll drop you off to the airport and wish you a safe journey home!
